Daphne Greene, CA OHV Boss, Booted by Brown

Op-Ed by Dave Duffin

The lead photo above shows Daphne at the Carnegie Rider Appreciation Day on October 23rd this year. The image does not lie. Joe Ramos our Carnegie Ranger-boss proudly introduced her to the audience at the event. Her expression shows her mood and ambiance at the day that finally brought the staff and riders together.

Now focus on this: At that very moment there were political assassins meeting to continue doing damage to Carnegie. The first strike from them would be to get rid of Daphne and put in her place a charlatan who would find ways to severely restrict OHV recreation and begin to dismantle all Daphne’s work over the past 8 years. Yes, of course they would target Carnegie again to close our park that Daphne defended for the last 3 years.

Yes, we all know that a Deputy Director serves at the discretion of the Governor, but please realize that the people who “have his ear” are not our friends. I would not be surprised if our key adversary who tried to close Carnegie 3 years ago, Karen Schamback, might be slated for the position.

What can we do to reverse this “Pearl Harbor” attack on California OHV recreation?

ACT IMMEDIATELY!!!!!!

  1. CALL THE GOVERNOR – 916.445.2841
  2. FAX THE GOVERNOR - 916.558.3160
  3. EMAIL THE GOVERNOR - veronica.ortiz-torres@gov.ca.gov
  4. WRITE THE GOVERNOR: Gov. Jerry Brown, State Capitol, Sac. CA 95814
  5. Letter Generator: http://capwiz.com/cal4wheel/home/

Remember the CA OHV system is entirely paid for by the OHV community.
Demand a say in who runs it.

California off-highway and off-road enthusiasts: We have a Voter's Guide just for you!

Working together, the California Association of 4 Wheel Drive Clubs (CA4WDC) and the California Off-Road Vehicle Association (CORVA) sent a hard-hitting questionnaire to EVERY candidate running for state and federal office.

We wanted the answers to the tough questions about land use issues, including Wilderness, multiple use, and access to public lands, in the candidates' own words.

Check out the responses here: http://cal4wheel.com/smartOHVoter/

But we need your help. We've gotten a few responses, but not nearly enough. We need all of you to check the candidates that have responded, then call the campaign office for the candidates in your area, and ask them to answer the questions! If they need another survey, contact dmead@astound.net and I'll make sure they get another email and/or fax.

California - it's time to vote at the ballot box for candidates that support the sports we love and enjoy. CA4WDC and CORVA are happy to help you with the education that you need to VOTE SMART!

It is a very sad time for the Escarabajo Buggy Club. One of our family has passed doing what he loved the most, off roading.
On Friday June 4th 2010, Bill Salmon was at Sand Mtn. NV running with club members Grayson "Daddy Daddy" Meyers and Ralph Robinson. Apparently Bill's car was running poorly and after a little wrenching he took it for a quick test drive. He rolled the rail and was badly hurt. He later passed away in the helicopter.

A service will be held on Saturday July 10, 2010
at Hull's Walnut Creek Chapel at 10AM

1139 Saranap Ave. Walnut Creek, CA 94595 (925) 934-5400
A private family burial service will follow at Benicia City Cemetery
