CORVA Land Use News and Updates
Touching on a few very important issues underway in the state at the current time:
ATTEMPT TO STEAL OHV GRANT FUNDS
Please act now: Senators Simitian and Evans are pushing a bill that will take the entire $21 million from the OHV Grant Fund, and give it to State Parks! We must act now – call, fax and write these State Senators, and your own Senator to tell them what a devastating effect this will have on roads, trails, parks around the state, not to mention law enforcement and restoration projects. Please distribute this to all your networks and club members, we have to get the word out ASAP. Find your State Senator: http://192.234.213.69/smapsearch/framepage.asp We’ll update as soon as more info is available that narrow down the parameters. In the meantime, find the plan at: http://www.senatorsimitian.com/pdfs/Sustainable%20Parks%20Proposal.pdf
CORVA will be holding a Comments Project Workshop dedicated to writing comments on the Notice of Intent released for the 4 Southern California National Forests. The Comments Project is proud to support grassroots efforts throughout the state, and because this process affects all 4 southern California forests, it’s critical we submit comments that are substantive and protect our roads and trails. Please contact me for further information at: amy.granat@corva.org You can check out the project page for the www.fs.fed.us/nepa/nepa_project_exp.php?project=35130
Rubicon: Appeal comments due on the Rubicon Easement project by June 5th: You can only file appeal comments if you commented on the draft document. http://www.fs.usda.gov/projectdetail/eldorado/landmanagement/projects/?cid=STELPRDB5357248

CORVA is also announcing our “KEEPING OFF-ROAD ON TRAIL MEMBERSHIP DRIVE”. In politics, more numbers equals more political power, and to increase our influence, we need more members and greater numbers.
