                                          In Memoriam

Steve Allen Molder passed away Friday October 19th at Sand Mountain, NV. He had a passion for dune buggies that few can equal. While out running with a group of friends he was involved in a roll-over in which he suffered fatal injuries. Despite the efforts of many they were unable to save him. Steve was a long time member of Escarabajo Buggy Club with a large circle of friends. He was responsible for introducing many to our sport. He gave me and my wife our first rides in a buggy over 20 years ago and helped me build my buggy which I still enjoy. His daughter Alicia has been around buggies all her life and shared in his love of the sport. His loss points out the dangers of our sport showing that no matter how much experience one has it can still present the potential for great harm or death. He has left a great void in my family that I doubt will ever be filled for he was like one of my family. We will miss him very much.

Presidents Corner:    Tod Smith President
Hi All,

I've been involved with off-roading, in some form, my whole life. I grew up in this club & have seen many terrible accidents and mistakes made by all types of OHV user's. It is a terrible thing that happened to Steve Molder. I was talking to one of the kid's in our club after we heard about the accident and he was pretty upset. He said " that could have been my Dad "! There is a lesson to be learned by all of us. This sport, that we are all a part of, can be deadly.
I tend to be on the conservative side when it comes to driving or riding. I believe it's because I have seen my fair share of the terrible consequences of bad decision making. I know Steve didn't make a bad decision. I think this was just a freak accident. We will all miss him greatly. We can only hope that Alicia will carry on his legacy.

With all that said, thank you all for believing in me enough to be your president again.
I look forward to leading us all into another successful year of growth and camaraderie.

Thank you, to all of the volunteers, members and future members, who helped put on another great Northern CORVA Jamboree.

Until next time,
Tod

Nov Meeting Notes :  Doug Robertson

Minutes read and approved. We had Steve Cuello as a guest. There was discussion on Steve MolderÕs accident. I filled everyone in on the ÒCelebration of LifeÓ this Saturday and thanked everyone for their support in his tragic loss. There was a membership vote to donate $100 to SteveÕs Memorial account. We hope to raise enough money to make a donation to Dumont Dunes in his name with some sort of meaningful contribution.

Bill Salmon is compiling a list of CORVA clubs in Northern Ca for CORVA since their list is out of date. He also reported that Gwen had told him that the Glamis North KOA  was now $700 a month plus electric. Not the bargain that it used to be under the old owners..

Pat Morgan announced the next Danville Lions Club Dinner Walk on December 4th from 6 to 9pm. It will be $25 per person and promises to be another great night out. Pat will be mailing out the cards soon to club members. Remember the club gets ½ of the money from tickets we sell so come on out.

Run Report:  CORVA Jamboree at Frank Raines OHV park.

Bill Salmon says Òwe had a whale of a good timeÓ. From what I heard the campground was packed for the weekend. Our club put on the Wiggle Worm and the Mouse Hunt events. Kudos to Diana and her crew of volunteers who put on dinner for 121 with $840 going to CORVA. We sponsored the costume contest which had some interesting participants. Non-member Paul Neufield volunteered to run the hot dog stand and sold out to the hungry crowd. Great job to all that helped out.
